The site is situated on a small flat terrain on the north seashore of Kojinjima, an island
with a circumference of less than 4 km located at the west end of the Naoshima islands.
The site is assumed to have been used for rituals of the seaside villages held by village
divers as well as those by strong social forces to pray for maritime safety. |
