宗像沖ノ島は、繰り返し営まれた祭場の遺跡によって構成されると考えられてきたが、石製品の分析では、多くの遺跡が、所謂「クラ」の役割を持つ遺構であることを示している。また、当初、畿内から直接持ち込まれていた祭具・奉納品が、5世紀中葉を画期に、奉納品は畿内、祭具は地元となり、最終的には、全て地元の石材で製作される変遷を辿ることが明らかとなった。 |
