Description |
This is a letter from Minamoto-no-Yoritomo, founder of the Kamakura Shogunate which was to raise the curtain on the era of samurai government of Japan, affirming the theretofore right of control of the Munakata Shrine Daigûji. With this letter, Ujisane was able to secure his position as Munakata Shrine Daigûji and gain position as immediate vassal to the Kamakura Shogunate, making him the head of the group of samurai in charge of the centralized government of the Munakata area. |
