At Nishi Park in Fukuoka City, there’s a hill that has long been known as Mt. Aratsuyama. Here, a special worship place was established in 1874, and there are records of the 6th feudal lord of the Fukuoka Clan, KURODA Tsugutaka having practiced distance worship for Okitsu-miya and Nakatsu-miya here. From the Observation area here, the whole of the bay of Hakata can be seen, as well as Mt. Mitake on Ōshima Island beyond Uminonakamichi, stretching to Shikanoshima Island. |
