Overview |
Misaka Pass, at 1570 m elevation on the border of Nagano and Gifu prefectures, is situated at the highest point of Tosando, which was one of the main roads in ancient times. The center of the site is situated on the north side of the pass in a flat area, where gravels of around 20 cm are piled in a mound 4 m in diameter. The rituals are thought to have been held to pray for safety of travel on the important route. |
