Overview |
The property is located on Easter Island on the Pacific Ocean. The original inhabitants are said to have come from Polynesia around the 4th century. Since then for 1300 years, while living in isolation, they developed a complex culture. From the 10th to 16th centuries, they erected megalithic monuments (Moai) of the living faces of deified ancestors of each tribal clan as guardian deities of the village. Megalithic altars (Ahu), tombs, etc. also still exist. |
