Overview |
Obishima is a small island situated roughly in the middle of the Seto Inland Sea. The currents around the island flow in together from both east and west at high tide, and flow out separately to east and west at low tide. The ritual sites are situated among the boulders at the border of the sandbar base and the mountain. Nara-style three-colored small jars, ancient coins and earthenware, etc. have been found from the sites, and are thought to have been used in rituals to pray for maritime safety. |
