Overview |
The property is an archaeological complex of Baekje, which lasted from 18 BCE to 660 CE and was one of the three earliest kingdoms on the Korean peninsula. It comprises eight archaeological sites in the mid-western region of the Republic of Korea, including sites of Buddhist temples such as the Jeongnimsa Temple in Gongju and Mireuksa Temple in Iksan. These sites testify the unique culture and history of Baekje and indicate that many different values were exchanged between Korea, China and Japan in ancient times. |
