Overview |
The Temple of Haeinsa, which was first built in 802 CE during the Unified Silla Dynasty, is home to the Tripitaka Koreana carved during the Koryo era in 1236 CE for over 16 years in hope of warding off Mongol invasions. The Tripitaka Koreana is the most complete collection of Buddhist texts and the carved woodblocks are stored in perfect condition in the depositories of Janggyeong Panjeon. |
