Overview |
The property is a massive layer of remains piled up between the 7th and 19th centuries. The oldest remains are likely to be of the protectorate general of Annam under Tang Dynasty. In 1010 CE, it became the capital of the Kingdom of Dai Viet. In the center of the district exist the podiums of the Imperial Citadel and the North and South Gates of Le Dynasty. There also had been temples on four sides to protect the Imperial Citadel. It reflects the unique Southeast Asian culture specific to the lower Red River Valley, at the crossroads between influences coming from China in the north and the ancien kingdom of Champ in the south. |
