Overview |
The property was the capital of ancient Champa Kingdom and a sanctuary as a religious center. The seafaring Cham people built the kingdom in the late 2nd century, and until destroyed by the Vietnamese in the 15th century, flourished through maritime trade and contributed to the formation of southeast Asian culture infusing Indian culture. There are remains of some 70 tower temples derived from Indian Hindu architecture. |
