| Overview |
The property is a small rocky island in Normandy with a
colossal Christian abbey perched on top like a fortress. Before
the abbey was built, there was a chapel on the holy island where
pilgrims visited. The abbey founded in 966 CE underwent many
transitions with frequent extensions and reconstructions made
and its use also changing as fortress and prison, but still today
continues to serve as a place of worship. |
