宗像三女神は出雲との関係性を有する。宗像氏は出雲臣と同祖で、共に神郡郡司で神主や国造を兼帯する祭政一致の性格を有していた。出雲は後々まで朝廷に服属儀礼を執行したが、宗像は天武との婚姻を通じて舒明系と関係を持った。出雲国造は代替わりに部内において嫡妻を棄て神宮采女を娶り、火継式をつうじて俗性を一新し神性を身に付けた。出雲と同様に神宮采女を娶っていた宗像では、火継式に相当する「非日常」的な部内継承儀礼が沖ノ島で執り行われたのではなかったろうか。 |
