宗像・沖ノ島の文化遺産群の存在を支えたのは、朝鮮半島と北九州をつなぐ海域世界における海人の活動であった。この海域世界において、航海・漁撈・交易をになった海人の知恵と技術は歴史的な変容を経て現代に継承されている。本報告では、海洋人類学的な視点から対馬海峡の海人集団に焦点をあて、１．沖ノ島の聖地とビロウ、2．海の神饌と海藻の呪力、３．海の交易と潜水漁、４．海峡域の航海術、５．東アジアの捕鯨について検討する。以上の活発な海人の活動が沖ノ島を中心とした国家的な祭祀集団をささえる生態学的基盤となった。 |
