Description |
On the islands of Japan, there are examples of the excavation of pearls dating back to the Jomon period, but instances of ancient excavation are exceedingly rare. While there are no discoveries of their excavation during the Yayoi period, it is recorded in the “Gishi” Wajinden, that pearls were brought as tribute to the Chinese Kingdom of Wei as special regional gifts from Japan.
