Description |
Iron spears were the chief weapon that cavalry soldiers were equipped with, and the use of them on the Japanese islands was adopted during the 5th century, during the influx of horse riding culture from the Korean peninsula. Of the spears that were given as offerings during Okinoshima religious rituals, many of them had blades with rhomboidal cross sections, but some of them also had equilateral triangle shaped cross sections. The latter type were of a new style of spear created after the latter half of the Kofun period.
