| Description |
This is a decorative metal fitting in the shape of a powerful dragon's head. The pair of fittings was excavated from Site 5. Their design features sharp eyes and thick, beak-shaped lips that open wide, and is said to reflect the style of the Eastern Wei in China, dating to the middle of the 6th century.
From the mural paintings of the Sui and Tang dynasties in China, we can learn about the specific uses of this dragon head fitting, which was originally attached to the tip of a rod to hang a hat or canopy.
