Description |
In the upper section, in gold ink on navy blue dyed-paper, Priest Shikijyo has recorded that he received support in transcribing the sutras from Daigûji Ujikuni. Written in 1207, still mid-transcription but already having completed around 4,000 scrolls, the meaning of the inscription that reads “scroll 2745” is unclear. In the lower section, chief priest of Hakata Soufukuji Donei Sôyô extols the more than 10-year effort to mend and mount the over 5,000 Shikijyo scrolls by Fukuoka Clan Shogunate Administrator Tominaga Ujiyasu. |
