Description |
In the second half of the 7th century, the ritual sites shifted to sites that were only partially shaded by the rocks. At this stage, offerings made exclusively for rituals became more prominent, displacing the items that had previously been shared in common with mounded tomb votive offerings. In particular, the weaving tools and five-stringed pentachord found here match the Shinto treasures of Ise Grand Shrine that are still used as offerings today. The new rituals that were conducted at this time, when a centralized state was taking shape during a turbulent period in East Asia, became the basis for rituals that have continued to be practiced to this day. |
