Description |
Beginning in the latter half of the 5th century, the ritual sites shifted to the ground beneath huges rock protrusions that functioned as eaves. Miniature objects such as iron weapons, swords and adzes, as well as gilt bronze harnesses brought from the Korean Peninsula, were used as votive offerings. With the end of the period of rock-shadow rituals (Site 22) came a clear change in the objects used as votive offerings. Offerings made explicitly for rituals, such as gold and copper floor looms and vessels, and ritual earthenware vessels, became more prominent and replaced the types of offerings that were also found in ancient burial mounds from this period. |
